One More Lap Ultramarathon

For Kids' Village. Sunday 15th Sept 2024

One More Lap for Kids' Village is a 12-hour, charity ultramarathon coming to the heart of Lichfield, Staffordshire. 150 runners, in 25 teams, will compete to complete as many laps of Stowe Pool as they can, from sunrise to sunset – all to raise money for Kids' Village.

One More Lap will be a test of your mind as much as your body.

The course is short, open & pan-flat.

It will be windy.

It will be repetitive.

And every time you pass the entrance to camp, you’ll have a choice to make – will you quit & head back to the comfort of camp, or will you keep running & do One More Lap for Kids’ Village?

Raising Money for Kids' Village

The fun’s all in the name of a good cause — we’re raising money for local charity, Kids' Village.

Our target’s a whopping £25,000.

So, although it is free to enter One More Lap, you're committing to fundraise for us - £100 per runner.

Every penny you raise will help to build the UK's first respite holiday village for seriously ill children, just outside Lichfield.

Fundraising Festival of Running

One More Lap's more than just another ultra- though. It's a day-long fundraising festival of running.

Our Event Camp will pop-up on Stowe Field for the day, in the shadow of Lichfield Cathedral. Filled with music & laughter, food & drink and buzzing with the energy of runners & your support crew cheering you on.

It’s guaranteed to be a day you’ll never forget.

A Team Challenge

We've made One More Lap a team event because shared suffering is _so_ much more enjoyable.

Assemble your crack team of either 4 or 6 runners, then take it in turns, relay style, to lap Stowe Pool, one runner at a time.

How your team runs One More Lap is completely down to you. Want to split the effort evenly with everyone running the same amount? That’s fine. Let your team’s Forrest Gump do the lion’s share of running? That’s fine too. Or why not go wild and swap runners after every lap? Actually, probably don’t do this.

Your Fundraising Commitment

One More Lap is free to enter but…

£100 PER RUNNER

By registering for One More Lap you’re committing to fundraising a minimum of £400 for a four-person team and £600 for a six-person team for Kids’ Village.

We’re asking you to raise £100 each. That’s just ten pounds from ten pals.

£100’s a meal out for 4. A tank of fuel. And a HUGE step towards making the life-changing magical breaks at Kids’ Village a reality.

Every penny you raise will go to Kids’ Village.

"Because ultrarunning events are so difficult simply to complete, it it often feels more like a 'We're all in this together' rather than 'Me vs. You'."

Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc winner — Katie Schide.

Our Happy Place – The One More Lap Camp

The One More Lap Camp will be your base for the day. It’s where you and your teammates can relax & recover between laps. A place to catch some z’s or catch up with friends, family, and the other runners.

The Best Dressed Pitch Award Goes To…

The theme for the camp is Your Happy Place – and we need your help to turn the camp into something spectacular.

We'd love you to turn your 3m2 corner of the camp into "Your Happy Place" – whatever and wherever that might be.

Why not transform your pitch into a pub? How about spending the day at the spa (or Spar). Maybe stretch out on a sun lounger while listening to hula music. It’s up to you…

So, get you’re thinking caps on, get out of your pain cave, and help us make camp an ultra-Happy Place.

Prizes Up For Grabs

As a thank you for being part of One More Lap we've got some super prizes up for grabs.

A Low Impact Event

We want to minimise the impact One More Lap has on Stowe Fields, on Lichfield and on the wider environment.

So, we’re going to be as single-use plastic free as possible.

To help us with this, please bring refillable water bottles – but you were doing that already though, right?

And although super handy to fuel on the run, energy gel wrappers aren’t especially great for the environment. If you can use something else, please do.

To make this easier, we’ve partnered with Luchos, an environmentally friendly, natural alternative to gels. We’ve got some of their delicious energy blocks to give out on the day. Plus, One More Lappers can get a 20% discount on all Luchos products – using the discount code you get after registering.

Trees Not Tees

Some t-shirts are kinder to the environment than others, but a lot of tees have a surprisingly big impact – think XXXXXL – on the world.

But on the other hand, it’s nice to get something in return for your efforts.

So, we’re giving you the choice. If your team would like hoodies for hitting the £200/runner fundraising target, it’s yours.

But if you’d rather we’d plant trees so our children’s children can still breathe, we’ll do that instead.

It's completely up to you.

Meadows Not Medals

We’re going to give you “Meadows not Medals” for being a part of One More Lap. Some wildflowers that you can plant, to make you’re corner of the world a little happier.

We hope you’ll agree this is a nicer, more sustainable, way for us to say thanks for being part of One More Lap.
